UO Student Food Resources
The Food Security Task Force continues to work hard to provide students with the support they need during these unsettled times.
Basic Needs Page – Food: https://blogs.uoregon.edu/basicneeds/food/
We are now using the Basic Needs Blog to keep students up to date on available programs and services. We’d like to draw students’ attention to SNAP resources. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides eligible folks with money for groceries. Right now, because of COVID-19, SNAP benefits are maximized, meaning that individual students can receive at least $190/month. The state of Oregon is particularly supportive of students, undergraduates in particular. The Basic Needs blog now has a series of videos that can help students learn about SNAP and enroll. These videos are produced by students at the Student Sustainability Center and the Duck Nest, who are also holding remote drop-in support hours.
Survey – Where are you and what do you need? https://oregon.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5zD3Z9hvTseRfnv
In an effort to support our students with targeted programming, we are conducting a survey to find out where students are and what their needs are. This essential survey will allow the task force to develop and enhance food security programs for all of our students. Please share the survey widely.
Finally, our website, https://foodsecurity.uoregon.edu continues to be updated with information about the availability of food security programs in and around campus. Please check frequently.
