Position: Summer Art Camp Instructor
Employer: Maude Kerns Art Center – Eugene, OR
Maude Kerns Art Center is looking for experienced instructors to join our teaching team for this Summer Camp season! The Art Center offers weekly programs beginning June 16 – August 15, 8:30-3:00pm for our Youth (6-11 years old) and 9:00 am-12:00 pm for our Young Adult (MS: 11-14 years old, HS: 14-17 years old) students. Each week of our Summer Camp program is a new theme and will focus on working with a variety of art materials.
Instructors will work directly with students to create an immersive Summer Camp experience through themed art activities. MKAC Summer Art Camp Instructors must have a strong passion for the growth of young artists and the patience to be encouraging when students struggle with projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience managing children ages 6 -17
- Experience working with a wide variety of arts practices
- Comfortable with behavior management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completed or seeking a degree in Arts or Arts Education
- Lesson planning experience

Summer Camp Schedule:
Youth:
AM Block: 8:15 am – 11:30 am
PM Block: 12:00 pm – 3:15 pm
Young Adult:
AM Block: 8:45 am – 12:15 pm
Pay Rate: $17 per hour minimum, based on experience

Interview Process:
Email outreach to set an interview date/time. You will be asked a series of questions about your teaching experience (please refer to the minimum qualifications and preferred qualifications). Plan for a 45-minute interview. Tour of the main classroom studio may be available if there isn’t a class taking place. Based on the number of interviews, the director of art education will email you the final decision after all interviews are completed and references are checked.
