Summer Jobs at Sitka Center for Art and Ecology

Sitka Center for Art and Ecology – Studio Technician

Located on the central Oregon coast at Cascade Head Ranch near the Salmon River estuary, the Sitka Center fosters creativity, intellectual inquiry and education. By helping others discover more about their core creative selves and their connections to nature, the Sitka Center works to fulfill its mission of expanding the relationships between art, nature and humanity. The Sitka Center offers a workshop program each season from May through September with more than 100 classes offered in art, writing, music and ecology. During fall and spring, the Sitka Center sponsors a residency program drawing artists, writers, musicians and natural scientists from all over the world.

The Sitka Center is seeking a Studio Technician to manage the daily operations of workshops in the summer. The person in this position works closely with the wonderful students and instructors who come to Sitka to nurture their creative spirit. We aim to give them an extraordinary experience. Your sincere friendliness, sense of intentionality with all the seemingly small details and art making knowledge make a difference between the so-so art class and the Sitka style workshop. You will do everything to make the workshops run smoothly.

The Studio Technician is a full-time seasonal position that runs from May 23 to September 30, 2016. Pay is $9.25 per hour and housing on the Sitka Center campus is provided in addition to access to studio space, when available.
