The Cabinet Factory internship

Hello UO students,

My name is David Poole and I work for The Cabinet Factory located here in Eugene. We design and build high end custom cabinets.

Long term plan, for The Cabinet Factory, is to find a cabinet designer that can measure, draw, and work with clients. We hope to teach them from the ground up assuming they have the design background, knowledge, and interest in that field. I am looking for the right person that wants a long-term position and is a good fit both for their abilities, goals, and life as well as a good fit for The Cabinet Factory and their customers

We offer the opportunity to experience and learn about:

  • Custom woodworking
  • Cabinet construction and joinery.
  • Job-site cabinet measuring
  • Cabinet Specifications
  • Computer work using Google, excel with some data entry
  • Learning to draw using cabinet drawing software cabinet vision

Here are some of the expectations and requirements:

  • Some architectural knowledge – being able to look at floor plans and identify cabinet, sinks, and walls
  • Some computer skills, preferably heavy on the techy side
  • Detail oriented – Can spot problems that most don’t see
  • A good mix of form and function
  • People person – able to work with clients
  • Able to eventually work on their own with little to no guidance
  • A major need to fill is delivering completed cabinets. Although this is not design work, working out in the field is important. This is physical work and would require lifting possibly 100 lbs. or more.

Immediate work needed:

  • Cabinet deliveries
  • Coordination of cabinet deliveries with contractors
  • Loading and unloading the truck
  • Driving the truck
  • Reviewing our drawings and getting familiar with them
  • Some measuring and design work using Cabinet Vision Solid 9.0

So, right now the ground up involves deliveries, some design and anything else needed. Hopefully, this will provide some boots on the ground experience and may answer some questions about this field of work and whether it is a good fit for their future.

I am looking for:

1 intern

  • 20 hours per week
  • 8-week time period
  • Possibility of long-term work down the road

$17 – $19 per hour depending on experience. Hoping to begin working in early August 22, 2022, or thereafter.

You can email me at dave@thecabinetfactoryeugene.com

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
